Nothing here wants your data

Last updated: September 17, 2026. This is the documentation site of a server library. It has no accounts, no newsletter and no comment box, and the demos on it are there to be poked at, not to learn who is poking. What follows is the short list of what still reaches the server anyway — and, since this site is a serverino application whose source is public, every claim below is one you can go and check.

Cookies and tracking

The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics (no Google Analytics, no pixels, no tags), and does not follow you from one site to the next. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to ask consent for.

Nothing on these pages is loaded from somewhere else either: fonts, stylesheets, scripts and images all come from this domain, and so does every request the pages make while you read them — down to the release number in the header, which is built into the server itself. Your browser never talks to anyone but this host.

What the demos receive

The Examples page runs real endpoints of this very process, so a few things do travel over the wire. They are short-lived by design:

  • The upload demo takes whatever file you hand it, up to 64 KB — larger requests are refused by the daemon and never reach any code. The file is written to a temporary file so that the endpoint can report its name and size back to you, and serverino deletes it as soon as the response is sent. It is never copied, opened, or looked at by anyone.
  • The chat demo only accepts a fixed list of canned phrases: anything else your client sends is ignored rather than relayed, so there is no way to publish free text into the room. Your nickname is invented from the process id handling your connection. The last few lines of the room live in a temporary file and scroll away within minutes.
  • The other demos (crash, pool, telemetry, footprint, slow) report on the server's own processes — memory, worker count, timings. They read nothing about you.

Keeping the demos on a leash

Because those demos invite you to flood the server, requests are counted per visitor: a few hundred every ten seconds, and a handful of WebSockets a minute. Counting needs to tell visitors apart, so it starts from your IP address — but the address itself is never written down. It is hashed together with the current time window, and only the hash becomes the name of a small counter file, which is thrown away a few minutes later. Nothing in it can be turned back into an address, and nothing in it survives the afternoon.

Server logs

The site runs on a server managed directly by the controller, behind a reverse proxy. Like any web server, that software records some data about each request for technical and security reasons: date and time, the page requested, the outcome. The IP address is recorded only in anonymized form, and logs are kept for at most 14 days before being deleted automatically. They are not used to identify or profile you.

Links off this site

These pages link out to GitHub, the dub registry, the API reference and a donation page. Once you follow one of those links, the site at the other end applies its own privacy policy, over which this one has no control. Nothing is loaded from them until you click.

Controller and contacts

The data controller is Andrea Fontana. For anything concerning this policy you can write to the mailbox set aside for privacy: compose the address from the word privacy, then the at sign (@), then this site's domain.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Articles 15–22) you have the right to access, rectify, erase or restrict the processing of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability, the right to object, and the right not to be subject to automated decision-making. In practice there is very little here to exercise them on: with no accounts, no persistent storage and no identifying logs, the server holds nothing that could be linked back to you once a request is served.

Right to complain

If you believe your data is being processed in breach of data protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, through www.garanteprivacy.it or www.gdpr.it.

Changes

If the site changes — a new demo that collects something, say — this page is updated with it, and the date at the top changes too.

Qui nessuno vuole i tuoi dati

Ultimo aggiornamento: 17 settembre 2026.

I tuoi diritti
